Swedish and Sports Massage is now being offered by massage therapists at Best Holistic Chiropractic and Sports Therapy Center.
A combination of light and deep tissue methods are used to invigorate and relax the muscles. This massage is more focused on the therapeutic benefits of massage: increased lymphatic flow, removing adhesions between fascial layers, relieving 'knots' and decreasing stress.
This type of massage is better for the person who wants the therapeutic benefits with the relaxing overtones.
Tuina is utilized in Chinese hospitals as an in-patient as well as an out-patient therapy. Tuina Bodywork uses the Traditional Chinese Medical theory of channels and collaterals (meridians or pathways) and the flow of the Qi energy. Through the application of massage and manipulation techniques, Tuina seeks to establish a more harmonious Qi energy through the system of channels, allowing the body to naturally heal itself.
Tuina methods include the use of hand and arm techniques to massage the soft tissue (muscles and tendons) of the body, stimulation of acupressure points to directly affect the flow of Qi energy and manipulation techniques to realign the musculoskeletal and ligamentous relationships. External herbal poultices, compresses, liniments and salves as well as cupping are also used to enhance the other therapeutic methods.
